Problem & approach

The problem

Automate ordinary residential shades: drive heavy worm-gear motors reliably, and control them remotely, on a schedule or by hand.

The approach

An ESP32 with a TB6612FNG H-bridge driver and custom firmware, integrated with the Tuya IoT ecosystem for telemetry and cloud control.

How it works

  1. Motor controlH-bridge PWM control of high-torque worm-gear motors.
  2. FirmwareCustom ESP32 firmware with sub-100 ms response latency.
  3. IoTIntegrated with the Tuya IoT ecosystem for remote telemetry and cloud-based control.
  4. Everyday useManual overrides and scheduled state changes from a mobile interface.
